Fairly good trip with King Express Train
We took the King Express Sapa train from Hanoi to Sapa (Lao Cai). The train was olden days train so the ride is very bumpy and the railway is very close to the shops and housing area in the city. To our surprise the bed is comfortable with pillows and blankets provided. They also served hot coffee in the morning. It was a bit scary when the train emergency braked about 11 pm and completely stopped for one hour. We asked what happened, but the crew didn't speak any English. It was relieved when it started to move again. I heard that train service is always fully booked because the arriving time at Sapa is good at 6;30am, so you wouldn't have to waste another day in Sapa.

Comfortable Sleeper King Express Train
We took King Express from Hanoi to Sapa. Initially, we were very worried about the condition of the train and cleanliness after reading online reviews. But we were pleasantly surprised with the train cabin. The sheets are clean, pillow comfortable and the blankets smell clean too. Toilet does smell a little after the nite, but it's acceptable. The bed can be a little too small for tall or big sized people. I managed to squeeze with my 3yr old on one, therefore it should fit average sized Asian well.

A 'Queen's Way' of traveling to Sapa
We, a family of four, with two boys in early twenties, are on a Vietnam holiday from India. We chose to spend a couple of days in Sapa to enjoy the famous Vietnam countryside in the hills. We were advised to travel by King Express from Hanoi to Lao Cai, the nearest train station to Sapa. An overnight train. It was the Christmas Eve on the day of our travel. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the train was celebrating Christmas too... With all the beautiful decorations of the coaches and all the windows!
