The Sapa express bus seats were large and comfortable, and a small bottle of water and a snack are provided at the start.
The journey to/from Sapa to Hanoi is around 5.5h with two rest stops in between. Sapa Express provided a pickup service from our accommodation in Hanoi to their office to transfer to the bigger bus. However, it was a pity that the trip back from Sapa to Hanoi did not have an accompanying drop off service from the Sapa Express office (we were told that it was because the buses were not allowed to run during evenings, by regulations), and we had to get a cab back to our accommodation.
I had a trip from Sapa to Hanoi on this Bus operator. Before the time departure about 1 hour, I received a call from them to notify me about the Bus trip.
They were thoughtful to remind me of going to the boarding point half of an hour before the bus moved.
We had to stay in 2 lines to get on the bus as their arrangement for the seats. Just feel a little bit unsatisfied that although I did go to the boarding point so early when I get on the bus all the seats seemed to be full already. My position is near the toilet, and that was a bit uncomfortable.
This Sapa express bus is one of the best sleeper buses I’ve taken. We were on Bus #10, which left the Hanoi office by 10+pm. Each person had an individual berth/bed for the journey. There was also free WIFI on the bus. The service was very professional, a guide would introduce himself & the bus captain, and give a brief description (like what time we’ll arrive at Sapa, what time will the bus leave the next day, where is the meeting point, etc
We took the King Express Sapa train from Hanoi to Sapa (Lao Cai). The train was olden days train so the ride is very bumpy and the railway is very close to shops and housing area in the city. To our surprise the bed is comfortable, pillow and blanket provided.
They also serve hot coffee in the morning.
It was a bit scary when the train emergency brake about 11 pm and completely stopped for one hour. We asked what happened, but the crew doesn’t speak English. It was relieved when it started to move again.
I heard that train service is always fully booked because the arriving time at Sapa is good at 630am, so you don’t waste another day in Sapa.
