Overview
The Independence Palace is in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street. The palace is also known as the Reunification Palace. On 30 April 1975, a tank crashed through its gates. This event marked the end of the Vietnam War and reunified the country. The building is a 1960s modernist design with four floors, a helipad on the roof, and a large basement. Inside, everything looks exactly as it did in 1975. You can see the president's living quarters, the war command room, and the original furniture. The palace grounds have gardens, old trees, and a small exhibition of military vehicles. You can buy stamps and send postcards home. This is a great place to take photos.
