Da Nang International Airport (DAD) is the main airport in Central Vietnam. Built originally in 1940, it is now a modern hub with two large terminals. It is located very close to the city center—only about 3 kilometers away! This makes traveling to your hotel quick and relaxing. Terminal 1 is for domestic flights inside Vietnam, and Terminal 2 is for international flights. Every year, it welcomes millions of tourists. With clear signs, friendly staff, and great services, the airport ensures a smooth start to your beach holiday in Da Nang or your cultural trip to nearby Hoi An.
Airport Structure: Terminals and Floors
The airport is divided into two main buildings that are connected by a short, covered walking path. You do not need a bus to go between them; it is only a 5-minute walk.
1. Terminal 1 (Domestic Flights):
Da Nang Airport's Domestic Terminal T1 comprises 40 check-in counters with essential amenities such as: baggage handling system, 5 jet bridges, specialized aviation electronic systems, lighting, water supply and drainage, air conditioning, and a service area with dining and shopping facilities, ensuring it will meet the needs of both domestic and international passengers.
- Floor 1: Arrival area and baggage claim.
- Floor 2: Departure area, check-in counters, and security.
2. Terminal 2 (International Flights):
Da Nang International Airport's Terminal 2 is uniquely designed with separate walkways. The terminal's facilities and equipment are state-of-the-art, ensuring it meets the 4E standards of an international airport.
- Ground Floor: Arrival hall, baggage claim, and customs.
- Floor 1: Immigration counters for arriving passengers.
- Floor 2: Departure hall, check-in, and customs for leaving Vietnam.
- Floor 3: Business class lounges and relaxing areas.

Pro-Traveler Experience Tips
- Arrive early for departures: Da Nang Airport is usually very fast, but in the summer tourist season, please arrive 2 hours early for domestic flights and 3 hours early for international flights.
- Dress comfortably: The airport has strong air conditioning, but outside it can be very hot. Wear light layers so you are comfortable inside and outside. Hold on to your luggage tags: In Vietnam, airport staff sometimes check your luggage tag against the sticker on your boarding pass when you leave the domestic arrival hall. Do not throw your ticket away until you are in your taxi!
- Although there are many currency exchange counters at the airport, you should avoid exchanging money there unless absolutely necessary, as the exchange rates are not particularly competitive compared to shops in the city center. You can easily exchange currency at better rates at shops on streets in the heart of city center upon your arrival.
- In Vietnam, taxi services through third-party ride-hailing apps like Grab, Be, or Xanh SM are quite popular. You can also use these services to travel to your hotel or from your hotel to the airport. The process from the airport is generally smooth, with taxis dropping passengers off at the arrival hall as usual. However, if you call a taxi from the airport to the city center, the driver may have difficulty finding you. Because the arrival hall is quite large and most drivers are not fluent in English, communicating to determine your location can take longer than usual. Furthermore, if you haven't prepared Vietnamese currency or haven't had time to exchange it, payment can be quite difficult as Mastercard/VISA cards are only accepted by a limited number of taxi companies.
We recommend choosing a private car service from reputable travel agencies to ensure the best experience for your trip.
