Pick up and drop off

Your driver will collect you directly from your hotel in Hanoi or at Noi Bai Airport. Depending on the route option you selected at booking, you will either cross to Cat Ba Island by ferry or by cable car — both tickets are included in your booking. A second private car will be waiting on the island side to take you to your hotel in Cat Ba Town.

How do I know the right driver is picking me up?

Recommended Departure Times from Hanoi

For Option Hanoi - Cat Ba by Car and Ferry

The ferry operates from 5:30 AM to 6:00 PM with departures every 30 minutes. Peak congestion at the port typically occurs between 8:00–9:00 AM and again at 2:00–3:00 PM, and tends to be busier on weekends.

We recommend departing Hanoi between 6:00–7:00 AM, which gets you to the ferry port around 9:30–10:30 AM — comfortably between the two rush periods. Avoid departing Hanoi around 9:30–10:30 AM as you would arrive at the port right during the afternoon rush. Plan to arrive at the terminal at least 30–45 minutes before your intended crossing, especially on weekends and public holidays.

For Option Hanoi - Cat Ba by Car and Cable Car (Cat Hai – Phu Long, Sun World)

The cable car operates daily except Tuesdays (closed for maintenance), with general operating hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

We recommend departing Hanoi between 6:00–7:00 AM, arriving at the cable car station around 9:00–10:00 AM before crowds build. Please note that travel on Tuesdays is not possible via this option. Arriving before 10:00 AM helps avoid queues, particularly during peak season (May–August) and on weekends when waiting times can be significant.

General tip: An early morning departure from Hanoi (6:00–7:00 AM) is strongly recommended for both options to avoid expressway traffic and congestion at the crossing point, ensuring a smooth journey of approximately 3.5 hours.

How long does the Hanoi to Cat Ba private car transfer take?

The total journey from Hanoi City to Cat Ba takes approximately 3.5 hours, and around 3 hours if departing from Noi Bai Airport. Travel time may vary depending on traffic conditions and the ferry schedule.

Is this a direct car ride to Cat Ba, or are there other modes of transport involved?

Because Cat Ba is an island, a car alone cannot complete the full journey. We offer two route options — both begin and end with a private car, but use a different method to cross to the island.

Option A — Private Car + Ferry

Your private car picks you up in Hanoi and drives to Got Ferry port in Hai Phong (approximately 2 hours). From there, you take a short ferry crossing to Cai Vieng Port on Cat Ba Island (approximately 20 minutes). Ferry tickets are included in your booking. A second private car will be waiting at Cai Vieng Port to drive you to your hotel on the island.

Option B — Private Car + Cable Car

Your private car picks you up in Hanoi and drives to the Cat Ba Cable Car station in Hai Phong. You then cross to Cat Ba Island by cable car, with panoramic views over the bay. Cable car tickets are included. A second private car meets you on the island and takes you to your hotel.

Can I be picked up from Noi Bai Airport (HAN)?

Yes — we offer pick-up directly from Hanoi Noi Bai International Airport. Your driver will be waiting at the arrivals exit holding a name board. The airport-to-Cat Ba journey takes approximately 3 hours, slightly less than from Hanoi city center.

What is included in the price?

Your booking includes: hotel pick-up and drop-off, a professional driver for both the Hanoi and Cat Ba legs, ferry tickets for the Got Ferry crossing, and a second car waiting at Cai Vieng Port. The price covers the entire private vehicle — not per person — so the cost is shared across your group.
