Yes. The 360-degree swivel seats in the soft-seating carriages can be easily turned to create a face-to-face conversation space, making it perfect for groups and families. The Community Carriage also provides a dedicated space for group activities

Q: How far in advance should I book, and can I choose my seat number?

The HQ1 Train is popular with both tourists and locals, particularly during Vietnamese public holidays and the peak travel season (roughly May–August). Booking at least 2–4 weeks in advance is strongly recommended to secure your preferred seat type and carriage. Seat selection is handled by Vietnam Railways at the time of ticketing. While we can pass on your preference (e.g., window seat, sea-view side, or Premium carriage), specific seat number requests cannot be guaranteed. The earlier you book, the better your chances of a favorable assignment.

Hue Phong Nha HQ2 Tourist Train Experience

The Hue Phong Nha HQ2 Tourist Train is a collaboration between the People's Committee of Quang Tri Province and Vietnam Railways Corporation, designed to enhance tourism and showcase the natural wonders of Phong Nha. The train service was officially launched on August 28, 2026.

There are two trains on this route:

HQ1: Departs from Tho Loc Station at 1:15 PM, arriving at Hue Station at 5:25 PM
HQ2: Departs from Hue Station at 7:15 AM, arriving at Tho Loc Station at 11:55 AM.

The train features modern carriages with rotating soft seats and a community carriage for cultural activities.

The train has 8 carriages and can carry 304 passengers. This includes 5 carriages with 360-degree swivel soft seats, with 56 seats in each. There is also one VIP carriage with 24 seats, one community carriage, and one carriage for services and entertainment.

The carriages are designed in a modern style, applying technology to commentary and communication; they feature spaces for introducing the signature cuisine of the two localities, art performances, entertainment services, and can host onboard events.

The journey is approximately 190 km long, passing through the stations of Hue - Dong Ha - My Trach - Dong Hoi - Tho Loc in about 4 hours. Each station is oriented to become a tourist highlight, with Hue as a cultural heritage destination; Dong Ha as a peace destination; My Trach associated with memories and celebrities; Dong Hoi – the gateway to coastal tourism; and Tho Loc as the gateway to the Phong Nha - Ke Bang World Natural Heritage Site.
