Phong Nha to Hanoi train (by Vietnam Railway)

There are no train directly from Phong Nha to Hanoi, to travel from Phong Nha to Hanoi by train, you need go to Dong Hoi train station in Quang Binh city which about 40 km far from Phong Nha to take train to Hanoi.

There are 6 Reunification Express trains that run daily from Dong Hoi city, Quang Binh to Quang Binh province including SE8, SE6, SE4, SE2, SE12, and SE20. It takes about 8 hours to travel by train via 407 km route. Reunification Express trains serve 3 kinds of tickets: Soft seat, 6-berth cabin, and 4-berth cabin.

• Although the train routes are exciting, if you are looking for a luxury/European-standard quality train then should lower your expectations before considering the train operated by Vietnam Railways. The system & facility – somewhat – are old with the almost hundred-years-old train tracks and some parts are not well maintained.
• Passengers should book train ticket from Quang Binh to Hanoi at least 2 days before the departure date to ensure ticket are available and should not try to book a ticket within 5 hours of the departure time as the system stops selling tickets around that time.
