Airport Structure and Floors
Phu Quoc Airport is very easy to navigate because all current domestic and international flights use one main passenger terminal. The building is divided into two main floors with clear functions: Ground Floor (Floor 1): This is the Arrivals area. When your plane lands, you will walk into this floor to go through passport control, pick up your luggage from the baggage carousels, and exit the building to find your transport.
Currently, Phu Quoc Airport has a multi-purpose passenger terminal serving both domestic and international flights, with an area of approximately 24,325 m². The terminal is designed in a modern style and consists of two floors:
The ground floor is the reception and service area for arriving domestic and international passengers. The ground floor of the airport includes: baggage handling area, customs, technical rooms, consumer goods counters, and food and beverage service counters.
The first floor serves passengers departing for domestic and international flights. It includes: check-in counters, baggage conveyor belts, security checkpoints, lounges, duty-free shops, and food and beverage service counters.
Commonly Used Airport Services
To make your trip easier, the airport offers many helpful services right inside the terminal: Free Wi-Fi: You can connect your phone to the airport's free Wi-Fi network anywhere inside the building. No password is required. SIM Cards & Currency Exchange: As soon as you collect your luggage on the Ground Floor (Arrivals), you will see small counters where you can buy a 4G/5G Vietnamese SIM card or exchange foreign money into Vietnamese Dong. Banks and ATMs: There are several ATMs located in the public area of the Ground Floor so you can easily withdraw cash for your taxi ride or hotel. Tax Refund: If you are an international tourist claiming a VAT refund, the customs inspection counter is located on the First Floor (Departures) before the security check. After passing security, you can collect your money at the refund payment counter. Baggage Services: Luggage carts are free to use. If you want to wrap your suitcases in plastic for extra safety, there is a baggage wrapping station on the First Floor near the check-in counters.
Pro-Traveler Experience Tips
Keep these useful tips in mind when arriving and checking in at Phu Quoc Airport: Arrive Early: The airport can get very busy during the peak tourist season. Try to arrive 2 hours early for domestic flights and 3 hours early for international flights. Prepare Documents: Have your passport, e-visa, and hotel booking ready on your phone or printed out to speed up the immigration lines. Bring an Empty Bottle: To save money, bring an empty water bottle and fill it up at the free drinking fountains after you pass the security check. Pack Power Banks Correctly: Remember that all portable chargers (power banks) must be carried in your hand luggage. You cannot put them in your checked suitcases. Look for Official Taxis: When you walk outside, look for official taxi brands like Mai Linh (green cars) or Xanh SM (cyan blue electric cars) to ensure you get a fair price with a meter.
