Important Information
How the Phnom Penh to Can Tho transfer works
Your private transfer uses two separate vehicles — one on each side of the border. Your first driver picks you up from your hotel in Phnom Penh (typical departure: 7:00–8:00 AM) and drives you to the Phnom Den border gate on the Cambodian side. Once you clear Cambodian exit immigration, you walk approximately 350 meters across a flat, paved crossing to the Vietnamese immigration building at Tinh Bien. Your second driver — holding a sign with your name — will be waiting on the Vietnamese side the moment you walk through. He then drives you directly to your hotel in Can Tho, with an estimated arrival of 2:00–3:30 PM depending on border traffic.
English-speaking drivers
Honestly, English fluency is limited on this route — the Cambodian driver typically has minimal to basic English, and the Vietnamese driver usually has less. In practice this is rarely a problem: pick-up, drop-off, rest stops, and the border handover are all coordinated by our team in advance so the driver already knows your full plan before he meets you. If anything comes up mid-journey — a detour, an unscheduled stop, a question about timing — just ping us on WhatsApp and we'll call the driver immediately to relay your request. We're reachable throughout the day for exactly this reason.
At the Phnom Den – Tinh Bien border: what to expect
The Phnom Den (Cambodia) – Tinh Bien (Vietnam) crossing handles significantly lower tourist traffic than the Bavet – Moc Bai gate used on the Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Minh City route, which means shorter queues and a generally calmer experience. Border processing typically takes 30 to 60 minutes under normal conditions, though it can extend on Cambodian or Vietnamese public holidays. The 350-meter walk between the two administration buildings is flat and partly shaded — porters with trolleys are usually available if you have heavy luggage.
Traveling with children — child seat availability
Child seats are available on request at small extra charge. To guarantee availability, request your child seat at the time of booking and specify your child's age and approximate weight so we can fit the correct seat type (infant, toddler, or booster). For the Cambodian leg, child seat availability may vary depending on the local vehicle assigned — contact us in advance and we will do our best to arrange it for both legs. Children occupy a full seat and count toward the passenger maximum of whichever vehicle type you select.
Traveling with pets
Small pets are welcome on the Phnom Penh to Can Tho private transfer, subject to the following conditions:
- Pet must travel in a carrier or crate at all times inside the vehicle. Open-carry pets are not permitted.
- Notify us at booking — undisclosed pets may be refused boarding at the driver's discretion.
- Pets are the full responsibility of the owner throughout the journey, including at the border crossing.
- Border crossing regulations: Both Cambodia and Vietnam require pets to have a valid veterinary health certificate and up-to-date rabies vaccination record. Vietnam additionally requires an import permit issued by the Vietnamese Department of Animal Health. These documents must be obtained well in advance — we strongly recommend contacting both the Cambodian and Vietnamese veterinary authorities before booking. Our service does not assist with pet import paperwork and we are not responsible if a pet is denied entry at the border.
- Large dogs and exotic animals cannot be accommodated on this route.
Visa and entry requirements for Vietnam
Most nationalities require a Vietnamese visa to enter at Tinh Bien. Your two options are the Vietnamese e-visa (apply in advance at evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn — USD 25, single entry, processed in 3 business days and valid for up to 90 days) or, for eligible nationalities, visa on arrival with a pre-arranged approval letter. Vietnamese e-visa is accepted at the Tinh Bien land border gate. ASEAN citizens and nationals of Vietnam's visa-exempt countries do not require a visa — check the current list at the Vietnamese Immigration Department website before travel. Our transfer pricing covers driver, fuel, and road tolls only and does not include visa fees or immigration assistance. Please ensure your passport has at least 6 months of remaining validity.
Checklist for the border:
- Passport (6+ months validity)
- Vietnamese e-visa approval or visa on arrival letter (if applicable)
- Your Can Tho hotel address (may be requested on the Vietnamese arrival card)
- Printed or digital copy of your booking confirmation
- Pet health certificate, rabies vaccination record, and Vietnamese import permit (if traveling with a pet)

FAQs
We want to depart at night, is the service available?
We provide service at any time you need, however, trips departing between 10 PM the previous day and 5 AM the following day will incur a surcharge of 10-15% on the total price.
Can I stop along the way (for lunch, sightseeing, etc.)?
This depends on the time and purpose of your stop. Generally, the driver will assist with short stops (around 10 minutes) for restroom breaks or snacks, but not too frequently. If the itinerary changes because you wish to visit a different location outside the route, we may charge an additional fee. Please contact our customer service if you intend to change the itinerary for further advice.
Is there a luggage limit on this private car service?
Our private car transfer accommodates standard luggage without extra charge. If your group is travelling with oversized bags, sports gear, or additional equipment, simply let us know at booking and we will assign a vehicle with sufficient space at no extra cost.
Can I change the pick-up or drop-off location after booking?
Yes. You may update the pick-up or drop-off address up to 1 hour before the scheduled departure. Changes after that point may not be possible, as your driver will already be on the way to collect you.
Does the driver speak English?
Our private car service driver can handle basic conversational English for everyday needs during the journey. If you require more detailed assistance at any point, simply message us via WhatsApp and our operator will contact your driver immediately on your behalf.
Does the vehicle provide child seats?
Yes, we offer child seats for children under 5 years old with our private car service, at an additional cost of $13 per seat per trip. Please inform us at the time of booking so everything is ready before your departure.
Can I bring my pet with me?
Yes. We allow pets to travel with you when using our private car service. Your pet must be equipped with a sturdy, bottom-filled cage or wear a muzzle and leash (for pets over 7kg). Please supervise your pet throughout the trip to avoid safety risks. After the trip, please follow the driver's instructions to help clean the vehicle. We may charge a fee if the unsanitary conditions cannot be immediately rectified (e.g., your pet urinates or defecates on the floor/seats of the car).
