Ngu Chi Son, part of the Hoang Lien Son mountain range, borders Son Binh commune, Tam Duong district (Lai Chau province) and Ta Giang Phinh commune, Sa Pa district. Ngu Chi Son consists of five main peaks, rising vertically to an altitude of nearly 2850m above sea level.
Located 25km from the center of Tam Duong town and about 40km from the Sa Pa tourist area, the Ngu Chi Son mountain range, resembling five fingers pointing straight up to the sky, is considered the most majestic mountain range in the Northwest region. With its year-round white clouds and rich primary forest vegetation, it's a dream destination for many adventurous travelers.
The path winding around the mountain slopes is lined with centuries-old primeval forests and vast rice paddies in bloom. To climb to the summit of Ngu Chi Son in Sapa, the estimated distance is about 12km, mainly along trails through primeval forests or winding along towering rocky mountains shrouded in mist year-round.
Trekking Route
Note: This is a reference route. The actual route may vary depending on weather conditions and terrain.
The first trekking route: follow the clear, cool streams with high rocks, at an altitude of approximately 1300m. Conquering this challenging route requires overcoming many difficulties and obstacles. The higher you climb, the more majestic the natural beauty becomes, with large, moss-covered rocks displaying a wild, untamed charm.Another unique feature of Ngu Chi Son is the lush green cardamom gardens planted by ethnic minorities along both sides of the trail, creating a stunning sight.
The second trekking route: follow the mountain pass about 1.5km from National Highway 4D and you will find Cau May Waterfall standing majestically between two mountain slopes. This waterfall is beautiful not only because of its high altitude but also because of its winding, swirling water that flows day and night, its white foam resembling a bridge connecting the floating clouds. At an altitude of about 2400m, the temperature and humidity change dramatically, with cold air and fog covering the path. The scenery at this altitude gives many people the feeling of being lost in a "heavenly paradise."
Third route: After nearly 6 hours of hiking, you will reach about 2,800m, where you can see the most beautiful view of Ngu Chi Son mountain. The image of the mountain standing majestically amidst the Northwest sky creates a strong impression on visitors with layers of clouds floating above the vast green forests swaying in the wind.
