Hoan Kiem Lake (Guom Lake)

Hoan Kiem Lake is the magical central oasis and cultural heartbeat of Hanoi. Steeped in the legendary history of King Le Loi and the giant golden turtle, this beautiful body of water features iconic landmarks like the scarlet Huc Bridge, Ngoc Son Temple, and the historic Turtle Tower. Perfectly situated between the Old Quarter and the French Quarter, the lake offers international travelers a scenic escape filled with lively weekend walking streets, traditional local street food, and an authentic taste of daily Hanoian life.

How to get there?

Starting from the Hanoi Railway Station, the city's primary train hub, navigating the travel route to the lake is very simple. Exit the station and head east directly onto Tran Hung Dao Street, a wide and orderly avenue. Drive straight for about 1.2 kilometers, passing local businesses and colonial buildings. When you reach the major intersection near the Ministry of Transport, make a left turn onto Ba Trieu Street. Follow Ba Trieu north for roughly 800 meters until the road terminates. You will see the beautiful green trees and open waters of Hoan Kiem Lake directly ahead of you.
