Deluxe 4-berth cabin.
VIP cabin 2 berths ( it is set up from cabin 4 berth - folding 2 upper berths )
VIP cabin/ cabin 2 berth must be bought as a whole. A single person who travels on a VIP cabin must buy both tickets.

Pick-up & Drop-off

Before 20:40: Arrived at Hanoi Train Station (No. 7 Tran Quy Cap street, (see this destination on Google Map) for check-in procedure. Your online ticket would be exchanged for paper tickets at this point.

21:35: Train departs to Lao Cai Train Station.

05:30: Arrives at Lao Cai Train Station.

Note: The distance between Lao Cai Train Station and Sapa Town is about 40km. Some forms of transportation are needed to enter the city

The train has its own waiting room in the station to serve its customers.
There is one restroom on every couch and only open when the train runs.

What a trip.
ok, so it's not luxurious, but comfortable. Weird sharing a room with two French folks that didn't speak English, but they were nice. Bathroom serviceable, but not too fancy. ride was bumpy, but mysterious. a genuine experience. cool to walk in the train hall way at night and look out an open window

Much better than the bus.
Hanoi to Lao Cai night train. Leave at 9.20 pm, we booked a 2 berth cabin, no sharing with strangers. 2 bunk beds, pillows and blanket. Bed side table with a cold beer and coke, bananas, biscuits and nuts are a nice touch. Hot coffee and tea arrive as we depart. Great views of Hanoi as we slowly leave the city. Sleep well as we rattle and sway through the night. Shortly before we arrive in Lao Cai there is a knock on the door and coffee and breakfast bars delivered. The train was way better than the return trip by road.
